  2. This image is a Venus map which shows the complete altimeter topography
  3. coverage from all 3 Magellan radar mapping cycles (24 months of operation)
  4. in Mercator projection.  The un-mapped areas are shown in grey filled with
  5. the Pioneer Venus altimeter map.  The areas mapped by Magellan are
  6. color-coded, with red marking the highest areas such as Maxwell Mons and
  7. Maat Mons, and blue marking the lowest areas.  Synthetic "shadowing" has also
  8. been added to enhance the visibility of features.  This image has been greatly
  9. reduced in resolution to permit easy transmission and display.  The
  10. full-resolution imagery will be distributed on a new altimeter/radiometer
  11. CD-ROM through the Planetary Data System and the National Space Science Data
  12. Center later in 1993.
